Functional Movement Bodywork
What if your body doesn't need to be forced - it needs different information?
Your brain is constantly receiving information from your muscles, joints, skin, eyes and the environment around you.The way you move is influenced by all of that information.Functional Movement Bodywork uses gentle touch, guided movement and sensory awareness to explore those connections.Instead of simply working harder on the area that feels tight, we look at movement as a whole.
What happens during a session?
You'll remain fully clothed and comfortably positioned on the table or moving through simple positions.
I'll guide you through movements and use hands-on techniques to help you notice sensations, differences and possibilities you may not have been aware of before. There is no need to "perform" the movements correctly. In fact, exploration is part of the process. You may notice that a movement feels easier, that a previously tense area feels different, or that you're suddenly aware of a part of your body you hadn't been paying attention to.The goal is not to force your body into a particular position. The goal is to give your body new information and let you discover what it can do with it.
Who is this for?
Functional Movement Bodywork can be especially interesting for people who:
• Feel stuck in recurring patterns of tension
• Want to improve mobility or coordination
• Are curious about the connection between movement and the nervous system
• Want to develop greater body awareness
• Are active and want to move more efficiently
• Have tried conventional approaches and want to explore something different
• Simply want to understand their body better
A different kind of bodywork. This isn't a traditional massage—and you don't need to replace your massage sessions with it.For many people, the two approaches complement each other beautifully.
